Rod raised an eyebrow. “Is that so…” he was referring to both their words. He extracted his arm from Astoria and grabbed a cookie. His eyes ran over the face of it and mummbled the number 7 before plopping it into his mouth. He chewed for a moment. He didn’t know what to say.

He’d leave the girls to talk so continued to eat the cookies, saying the number of chips under his breath before eating each one.

Olivia laughed slightly. “Yeah, he does tend to do that.” She thought it was an incredibly endearing trait, but Olivia understood where Astoria was coming from. “Oh, you did? Did you actually get any studying done?” Olivia prompted with a slight tone of malice. For whatever reason, Seamus and Astoria sharing a table didn’t seem as innocent as the other girl put it.

Rod chuckled at the pair. He teasingly pulled at Astoria’s hair as he spoke. “Are you reading the texts in the order I placed them in your bag? Because if so I completely understand why the first one took so long… it’s about the thinkness of two Hogwarts: A Historys.” He nodded at the mention of his journals. “I hope my aweful handwriting in those things are readable. You’ll see my scrawl become much more understandable as time goes on. I’m glad you are finding them insightful though.”

“Tor makes a good point. Is the pyro. yours yet? You never did say,” he waggled his eyesbrows suggestively.

Olivia nodded. “Yeah, that book was huge.” She laughed nervously and reached out to pour herself a cup of tea. She shrugged, so far she had been able to read the notes, but a couple things had been a bit unclear. “It’s no problem, really. They’re pretty easy to read, and you did a good job explaining everything.”

She blushed slightly and looked down at her hands. “I-I don’t really know about Seamus and I. We haven’t talked in a while, so I’m not sure…”

Astoria was getting that weird gut-wrenching feeling. It was barely there, but it was. Those only came along when she felt like something was off, wrong. However, Rod’s presence comforted her and made her fee a little better and she pushed the feeling to the back of her mind. It must have been her nerves.

“No thanks. I just had lunch. I’m good.”

“Yes, the training is going well. I’m almost done with the first book, and I’ve been looking over the notes you gave me.” Olivia said with a short nod before continuing to fidget with the hem of her skirt. An awkward silence descended on the room, and Olivia had the urge to say something, but she couldn’t think of anything that wouldn’t potentially offend either Astoria or Rod. So, she kept her moth shut and looked between the two Slytherins nervously.

Rod looked up from his nervous counting and smiled at Olivia. He stood from the couch and walked over to her. “Not yet.” He gave her a friendly hug and motioned for her to sit just as the door swung open to reveal Astoria.

Rod smiled at her mention of the animagus teacher. “It’s quite alright,” he said as he took her into his arms for a hug and softly kissed her on the cheek. He pulled her over to the couch across from the one he motioned Olivia to sit on and sat. Rod slung his arm over Astoria’s shoulder. “Tea anyone?” He asked with a smile on his face.

Olivia smiled to Astoria quickly and waved hello. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Astoria. I’m Olivia. ” She said half heartedly. Olivia folded and unfolded her legs nervously. She couldn’t put her finger on exactly what it was, but she could already sense that there was something about Astoria that made her a bit uneasy.

“No thank you.” Olivia responded quickly.

The Raven-owl, The Wolf, and The Minx

rod-wolff:

Rod had arranged a meeting between his girlfriend and most trusted friend in Hogwarts. He was currently sitting in the Room of Requirement waiting for both the arrive. He wondered how they would get along.

Olivia was like a little sister to him and reminded him so much of his late sister. Where Astoria was his first ‘girlfriend’ and someone he loved in a way that was a bit foreign to him. It was a different love than what he was used to. It was obvious that he cared for both of them.

The room was cost and well lit. There were two couches, facing each other. And a low table in the middle of the over stuffed furniture. On the table there was tea and cookies along with a few pastries. The house elves had set it up upon the Slytherin (7th year) Prefect’s request. Rod resorted to impatiently counting sugar cubes and them chocolate chips once he finished that as he waited for the two girls to arrive.

Olivia sighed and nearly stomped down the hallway to the room of requirement. Despite her best efforts to convince herself otherwise, she wasn’t thrilled about meeting Astoria. She had heard a lot about the younger girl, and almost none of it had been positive. She knew it was irrational, but she didn’t think Astoria was a good choice for Rod and seriously doubted that their relationship would go anywhere good.

She walked into the room a bit sulkily and smiled half-heartedly towards Rod. “Hello, Wolff.” Olivia muttered in greeting as she took a seat on one of the couches. “Is Astoria here yet?” She asked, looking around the room slowly. Olivia couldn’t see the other girl around, but she could have been hiding somewhere.

“Thanks birdy. So have any questions about the whole animagus thing? Or anything you want to talk with me about?” Rod questioned.

“You’re welcome, Wolff.” Olivia replied with a smile. “No, I don’t think so.” She shook her head and sipped the tea.

Olivia, hey! I know I haven't been around lately, but I wanted to say hi! I was actually wondering if you wanted to catch up, or something? Let me know. -Allie

Hey Allie! That sounds awesome,  I’d love to, let me know when you’re free! -Olivia

Rod laughed at the face she made. “Maybe I will get him a kiddy broom. You know the ones that hover like a foot off the ground. I don’t know… I guess I will come up with something eventually.” He said with a shrug before finishing another cup of tea.

Olivia nodded in agreement. “That sounds like a good idea to me. But if you need any more help, let me know.” She smiled and took a sip of tea.

“I was thinking of carving him a panther as a charm from wood for a necklace since both me and his mom had that animagus… but he wont be able to wear it for a while,” Rod said making a face.

“So then I was thinking of getting him a puppy. But I don’t think that’s a.good idea now.” He was laughing now. “I have no ideas…”

“That’s a great idea! Oh…yeah…well he could wear it, but it might not be the best idea.” Olivia said and took a sip of her tea. She frowned and thought of any ideas. “You could teach him how to do something.”

Olivia laughed, then cringed at the thought of how that might have turned out. “No, it really isn’t…”

Rod nodded. “I miss them. He’s my God son so I have to get him an extra special Christmas gift. And I wanted to give him his birthday gift early. Too bad I still don’t know what to get him… for either,” he laughed.

“Well, what does he like to do?” Olivia asked. “You could get him something to do with that. Or you could make him something.” She suggested with a smile.

Rod shrugged. “I dont know. Wizards cross species all the time as well… Xander turns three soon. In January actually. I’m visiting them over the Holidays… just recently decided to.”

“Either way, it’s not great for the eco-system.” Olivia said with a sad smile. “Oh, that sounds nice. Are you excited?” She asked with a grin.

Rod laughed. “Yep. Muggles like to breed them together in captivity. My brother in-law saw him… the cub and purchased him for Alexander. Said that he needed a playmate seeing as his twin died along with my sister. They say that twins need someone to be there… that whole other half thing.”

He smiled at the picture. “He’s doing better… they both are.”

Olivia bit her lower lip and examined the animal more. “That doesn’t seem very natural…” She mused before listening to Rod. She nodded once and looked up at him. “Yeah, I can see that. How old is he now?”

“That’s good. It must have been tough…”

Rod shrugged. He took a quick intake of breath before pulling out something from his pocket. “I almost forgot. I wanted to show you this.” He handed her the moving picture. “This is my nephew and his new pet. That’s a leopon cub. Cross between a leopard and a lion.” The picture was of a little boy that was about 2 years old with the same eyes as Rod scampering in the grass with a sandy colored cub with leopard spots on it’s body.

Olivia looked at the photo and grinned. “He’s adorable.” She then looked between Rod and the photo. “And he looks a lot like you, actually.” Olivia remarked then looked back down at the photo. “What? That’s an actual animal?” She asked in disbelief.

Rod smiled at Olivia. “Just do what feels right. Hasn’t done me wrong yet… except the time I thought trying to ride backwards on my broom was a good idea…. yeah but other than that—”

Rod filled their cups with more tea. “I’m glad you like the journals by the way. I just felt this… desire to get you something,” he smiled. “You’re my friend and I thought you deserved something to symbolize the friendship. Maybe we can run in our animagus forms together one day.”

Olivia nodded, it was good advice, and she hoped she would be able to take it well. “Yeah…that’s kind of the plan.” She replied with a nervous laugh. “Godric, why did you do that?” Olivia winced at the thought of how riding backwards on a broom might have turned out.

“They’re gorgeous, thank you so much. Oh, you really didn’t have to get me anything…you teaching me and just being here for me is a gift in itself.” Olivia said with a small smile. “I’d like that.”

Rod chuckled. “Olivia I am only human… though the wolf and panther thing may have been a contributing factor… High sex drives in those creatures… specially the wolf.” His tone was teasing as if he were telling her she was far to innocent to hear his words.

“Any news with your male issues? Hows that Pyro kid and the one with the funny accent,” Rod teased.

Olivia covered her ears and laughed at Rod’s tone. “Okay, okay! That’s enough! My young, innocent ears can’t take much more.” Olivia joked and lowered her hands.

“Kind of.I really, really like Seamus…so I think I might just forget about Marcus.” Olivia said with a small smile. She felt kind of heartless as she said the words, but she really did like Seamus a lot.

Rod grinned. “Not long,” he said with a chuckle. “But I know her very well if you know what I mean,” the older boy snickered. He casually sipped his tea.

Olivia wrinkled her nose and gave Rod a slightly disapproving look. “Seriously?” She asked with a light laugh. She wasn’t really that surprised, they were talking about Astoria Greengrass after all…

Rod smiled at the younger girl. “Your welcome. I figured you needed a proper place to record your own notes on the process. They’re enchanted so that when you finally shift your form will engrave itself right here,” he said pointing to the spot on the book “and when you read or write in it, both you animagus and mine will interact on the page… I’m banking on you becoming a bird. I think the images will be fascinating if that is your form,” he said with a grin.

“And Astoria is just about as nice as I am. We are both inheritently evil. But we have a lot in common, so it works.”

“Aw, that’s so thoughtful.” Olivia said with a grin as she ran her hand down the side of the Amber notebook. The feeling of the leather beneath her fingers was a comforting reminder of her fathers old journals back home.

Olivia laughed lightly at his description of Astoria. “She sounds lovely. How long have you two known each other?”

“Astoria Greengrass.” He said with a laugh.

Rod leaned forward and gathered the box in his hands. Inside lay two blank journals, one the color of fine Jade and the other a shocking Amber and a set of Poppy colored quills. On the cover of the Amber journal was an engraving of a wolf in the bottom right corner and on the Jade journal, a panther in the same position. They were enchanted. The engravings moving and such as if they were the actual creatures. And he had placed a custom complicated enchantment that would cause her animagus form to engrave of the leather strap that held the book closed. “You should open it now,” he laughed as he handed it to her.

“Huh, I don’t think I’ve met her…is she nice?” Olivia said with a smile. She hadn’t technically met Astoria…but she had heard a lot about the girl; and not all of what she had heard was positive.

Olivia took the box gently and began to unwrap the paper carefully. “Alright.” She replied with a smile and finished opening the box. When she saw what was inside she gasped. Olivia didn’t think she had ever seen a more ornate journal in her life, and she was shocked that Rod would actually give something that nice to her. “Oh wow…Wolff, these a gorgeous. Wow….thank you so much.” She set the journals on her lap gently and leaned over to pull Rod into a hug.

“Many things. One of which being the Christmas gift I got you and the other being the fact that I, Rod Wolff, Professional Player of Slytherin House, have a girlfriend,” he chuckled.

“You got me something? Oh, you really didn’t have to…” Olivia said with a small smile as she eyes drifted to the wrapped box on the table that she hadn’t noticed before. She gasped and her face lit up in a huge smile. “You do!? Wow, that’s great! Who is she?”

“Hey there birdy,” he said with a smile. “Tea?” He offered motioning to the tea pot on the table. The animagus continued to sip his as he waited for her to join him on the couch.

Olivia smiled and walked over to the couch where Rod was sitting. “Yes please.” She said with a smile as she poured herself a cup of tea and sat next to him. “So, what did you want to talk about?” Olivia asked.
